US-based Kalenjin urban musician and influencer Fay Tall has set social media abuzz after her young son successfully flew from Nairobi to New York all by himself.
The medical practitioner, who also describes herself as an aspiring politician, could not hide her joy after reuniting with her son in the US on Saturday, August 16.
Fay shared emotional photos and videos of the moment, showing her rushing to embrace the boy at the airport.
“I needed a hug, so I flew my son in so this way I can get unlimited hugs,” she captioned one of the clips, where she was seen beaming in a flowing blue maxi dress and shades.
Her son, clad in sweatpants, a heavy jacket, sandals and wrapped in a Maasai shuka, appeared calm and collected after the long trip.
The proud mother later revealed that the boy had made the journey alone, flying across continents without an accompanying adult.
“He is a brave one! Travelled all by himself from Nairobi to New York! I am so thankful, my heart is full,” Fay wrote.
Her revelation quickly stirred debate online. Many Kenyans were impressed by the boy’s courage, some humorously comparing his international journey to their struggles navigating matatu routes in Nairobi.
- “Me just navigating in Nairobi, looking for my stage, I got lost for three hours until I had to remove my shoes,” one user joked.
- “This is a dry Kalenjin man. No fears at all,” another added.
Others, however, questioned the safety of letting a child travel such a long distance alone.
- “Fay Tall isn’t a caring mum. How risky is it?” one critic argued.
- “Mine goes to the shop singing ‘sukari, majani’, but will still bring soap instead,” another parent quipped.
Despite the mixed opinions, many followers lauded Fay for raising a bold and independent child, with some saying his courage reflected the adventurous Kalenjin spirit.
