NAIROBI, Kenya – Universities, colleges, and TVET schools can now apply to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) system starting in 2026. The online application will be available until May 6, 2026, having opened on April 7, 2026.
The application is intended for Form Four leavers from prior years, as well as the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination class. Both degree and TVET programs are open to the 2025 class.

In a statement, KUCCPS said that applicants for TVET programs can report to their respective institutions beginning in May, while TVET placement is ongoing, while those for degree programs will begin attending universities in September.
KUCCPS got results for 980,444 qualified students in the 2025 KCSE exam; of these, 268,700 achieved a mean grade of C+ or higher, making them eligible for admission to degree programs at 43 public and 31 private universities.
Public colleges and other TVET schools might accept the remaining 711,744 students who received scores between C-simple and E.
“This year, students can be placed in 251 public TVET colleges, including 33 university TVET institutes, in addition to universities,” the statement reads in part.
A look at the data from learning institutions
The Commission for University Education (CUE) and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), which oversee higher education, had to accept the programs and capacities that the institutions submitted.
While middle-level colleges have a total capacity of 1,132,531 for this year’s placement to diplomas, certificates, artisans, and other TVET levels, CUE approved a total of 322,396 capacities for degree programs in the universities. The capacity of Secondary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) is 2,480.
“To assist applicants, the Placement Service will dispatch its officers to different universities and TVET institutes throughout all counties during the application period.
Where can students access the KUCCPS information?
Information will be posted on the KUCCPS website at http://kuccps.ac.ke. Additionally, all Huduma Centers nationwide offer assistance to applicants,” the statement further reads.
The placement of students for the March 2026 intake at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) was completed last month by KUCCPS.
After completing their university placement, Form Four leavers who took the 2025 KCSE test and are interested in entering KMTC will have the chance to apply for the September 2026 intake.
All applications must be made online via the KUCCPS portal, and applicants must repeat certain subjects to be eligible for KMTC programs
